Personal | When Life Gets In The Way….

Beauty blogger Zoe Newlove writes about how life sometimes gets in the way of blogging, and how that is okay.
My goodness I am tired today,
I literally feel like a nodding dog sat at my desk. I just want to go
home and curl up in a ball underneath my duvet & fluffy blankets. I spent the weekend over in Dublin with Crownbrush UK which was ever so wonderful but very, very busy. Monday evening I flew home which should have been smooth sailing, had I not had an unfortunate incident involving forgetting to pick up my bag from the baggage carousel – see I am just not an ordinary functioning human right nowmeaning with all the waiting around I hardly had any sleep at all. Basically, just LIFE.

If you are a regular reader of my bloggy you would have noticed I keep going through phases of blogging every day, to then not blogging for a week – I am just not on form at the moment and have no set blogging schedule, what so ever. Send help.
I have had a lot to think about over the last few months in regards to my personal life, something that I just don’t feel like talking about on here- or maybe I will some day, who knows. As a result my mind has felt clouded & every day has gone by in a whirl. Just to add to it all, these past few weeks have been my busiest yet with full time job, trying to manage a blog, attending to my bridal clients & private make-up appointments to also somehow trying to keep up with events and maintain a social life. Don’t get me wrong, I am totally grateful for everything going on in my life right now, but some days I don’t even want to get out of bed to open my blinds, never mind face the next 24 hours ahead. It all gets a bit too much sometimes.
Then there are the little things, those moments where I can breathe a sigh of relief and relax. The day I opened up my door to my Apple Yard London flowers, the gorgeous Pumpkin Chutney bouquet* from their Autumn range, put a huge smile on my face. I mean just look at those photos, aren’t they just beautiful? I am so glad I took these photos as I would be lying if I said I had the chance to fully enjoy this bouquet in my bedroom. The weekend they arrived, I was working in London and then was out almost every day after, before then flying to Dublin. I woke up this morning, to see them still holding in there, but wilting ever so slightly. I am totally going to send flowers to myself, and I am going to ensure that I enjoy them properly. You should always make time to treat yourself to flowers.
I have been trying to make time for little old me, by switching off my phone and pulling out a good book. I ordered the Richard and Judy Autumn Book Club collection from W H Smiths, and I am yet to finish one of the 8 amazing stories. I have started reading The Well by Catherine Chanter, and it is ruddy brilliant – I just need to make time to finish it, and soon, as I have so many more to get through.
In these moments to myself, I will light my new favourite Neom Organics Tranquilty candle which is just phenomenally good, soothing Lavendar, Sweet Basil and Jasmine notes, really calm me down and allow me to relax. I cannot be without the Perfect Night’s Sleep Pillow Mist either, I literally have this stationed permanently on my bedside table. I’ll spritz this over my pillows and teddy bear, and as soon as my head touches down, I am out….
I was beating myself up about getting so behind again with my blog, but do you know what, it really does not matter. I had not posted on Instagram for a week but life still carried on. My world did not end. There is more to life than work and blogging and I am slowly remembering this. Don’t let your days, weeks, months pass you by – as you will wake up realising that you are already half way through October and will regret not slowing down a little. Be good to yourself, light a candle & enjoy a new read.

Zoe you need to pick a schedule that works for you, not what you think your readers want. And I’m pretty sure we’re not going anywhere! If you ever want to chat, just drop me a message lovely. And on another note, I read The Well whilst on holiday, although not my favourite read, it was enjoyable. I would recommend I Let You Go, one of my all time favourite physiological thrillers. Sending a virtual Hug your way! xxx

I’m with you, so much, on life getting a bit crazy lately. It’s been nonstop stress in my personal life the past 2 months, and carving time out to enjoy a new read, smell some flowers and light an autumnal candle does make a world of difference. My ‘to be read’ is massive, but I need to just make the time to take that literary escape.

  • Considering how busy your life schedule is I think you are doing so well on the blogging front. I think it’s important to blog when you can or else you will just force yourself to do it & end up hating it. I really hope you will get a much deserved break soon, it definitely sounds like you deserve it. Hope you enjoyed Dublin, it’s my hometown πŸ˜€ x
