Oh it’s been a while since I did a make-up post. Where have I been hiding?
Well to be honest, I have been avoiding make-up like the plague recently. I got a terrifyingly awful eye infection, which took a lot longer to shift than I originally anticipated. I sadly had to throw away half of my make-up bag, just to be on the safe side (I think it was dodgy mascara sample looking back) and then I was far too scared to actually put anything near my eyes, not even concealer folks, god bless those dark circles.
A fortnight later, I figured it was about time I braced my lonely pile of eye shadows and mascara. Now then, there have been some pretty awesome make-up launches so far already this year, so let’s talk about the new additions to my collection. Got yourself a brew? Get comfy for this one, it’s been a while…
First of all, Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer. This had been on my wish list ever since I saw that funky doe foot sponge applicator thaaang. Usually full coverage foundation  is not my thing, I like my skin to breathe, but I just needed this one. It was calling out to me. The very first time I applied this I definitely put far too much on and ended up hating it. I would definitely say application takes practice until you get used to how much you need. I find I put a few small dots just in the centre of my face, starting on my nose and blending outwards, this is just enough to take down any redness and hide any lingering blemishes. I shall do a full review, otherwise we would be here all day wouldn’t we?
Moving on to my favourite of the bunch, the brow pencil, shock. An entirely new brand to me, Eye of Horus, have the most amazing Brow Define Pencil*. I am wearing the shade Husk which is an Ashy Blonde. It is very similar to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (review here) and I have been using it every single day for the past week – the only bit of make-up I would risk wearing. On my eyes I am wearing the more neutral / brown end of the Pur Minerals Soul Mattes eye shadow palette*, a must-have for those who have a slight obsession with collecting the perfect matte shades. Soft textures and great pigments which last all day.
Kinda hate using this word at the moment, contouring, seeing as every make-up look in the entire universe seems to include this technique at the moment, nevertheless the Smashbox Cosmetics Step by Step Contour Kit is a fab little set, and is great for those of you who want to naturally define your cheekbones with a powder. I have really enjoyed using this and no doubt my mother will want to steal it off me, a woman who is actually more obsessed with cheekbones than myself.
On my lips I am wearing my new Crownbrush Milk Chocolate lip liner, isn’t it like the best shade ever? On top of which I am wearing the new Inika Organic Lip Tint in Candy, this by the way tastes like pepper mint and I had to reapply it a few times before taking these photos as I kept on licking it off.
To finish off, yes, you are nearly at the end, I have really enjoyed wearing my Models Own Mint Icing Nail Varnish*, which I naughtily forgot to photograph, just trust me when I say it is the perfect shade of pastel mint and it will adorn my nails throughout all of Spring. Last but not least, a treasure from Soap and Glory, the Supercat Fat eye liner. I was really impressed with just how black the finish is and how easy it was to use, considering how chunky the nib is. By far the easiest felt tip pen I have used to date and one that will have a nice little home in my make-up bag for the foreseeable future.

What make-up purchases have you guys been making recently? Anything I NEED to have?
