A few weeks back I attended an evening with Erborian. It was a pleasure getting to know this brand whilst discovering the culture behind Korean beauty rituals, and how owners Katalin and Hojung, dreamed of sharing their Korean herb inspired beauty products with the world. Traditional South Korean remedies have been infused with French Luxury to create a line of skincare covering every angle, your cleansers, lotions, toners and creams, there is something for everyone.

The cleansing step in your skincare ritual, is a big part of the Korean skin therapy, so I was looking forward to testing the Erborian Herbal Energy Cleanser*, which claims to triple cleanse your skin. I am not one to just cleanse once, so I would never just use this cleanser alone, to me, wiping away your make-up with a cotton pad and some lotion is not enough. Yet, I can tell you, it does remove every scrap of make-up from the skin and even though the formula feels slightly oily for a cleansing water, it definitely does the job. It certainly breaks down all the grime and leaves my skin feeling nice and soft. For those rare nights where I am too tired to use two cleansers, then I can trust this to remove all that I can see on the surface.
CC creams are new to me, yes they have been around for a while, but I never even really bought into the BB cream phase. Call me old fashioned, but I stick to my foundations and to tinted moisturisers. I had heard great things about this particular CC cream however, so I was interested to try it. Designed to be used underneath make-up, as part of your skincare routine, Erborian recommends you use their High Definition Radiance CC creme* as your daily moisturiser. Promising to give radiance, diminish imperfections as well as preventing the first signs of ageing. Sounds like a lot going on for just one cream. I bit the bullet and applied the cream with my fingers, the white formula dispersing a coloured pigment onto the skin as I blended it in. Immediately I realised that this CC cream is far too dark, like four shades too dark for my skin, so I had to take it down my neck as well. Now, even though the shade was ridiculous for my fair face, I completely ignored this fact, as my skin really did look so much better. I even felt no need for any foundation, just a touch of concealer, which is an added bonus. I will definitely be packing this when I go abroad or for those times I wear self tan. I would love to see this product in a range of different pigments for more skin tones.
The Sleeping BB Mask* got some of us confused at the event, BB in this case, is not a BB cream, but a product that has been formulated to give you ” Baby Skin”. As soon as I got home from the event, I tried this out, and it felt very silky on application, reminding me of silicone heavy primers. I looked at the ingredient list and as I guessed silicon based polymers are high up in there. Unfortunately, I do not like the texture of silicone based products, but I tried it anyway, and slept with it on. It is supposed to act like a cocoon to the skin, promising you will wake up with no imperfections. Now, I didn’t wake up with clearer skin, but it did look brighter and felt nice and soft. I love the idea of using this product to protect your skin as it sleeps, but I am not sure this is something I would buy in the future.
Erborian is a brand that intrigues me, I cannot help but be captured by the romance of Korean beauty rituals. I am definitely keen to try some of their serums, particularly from the popular Ginseng collection. I am not totally sold just yet, but I will report back as and when I get the opportunity to test out more of the range.
Have you tried Erborian?

  • I have seen this brand before but not head much about it, the packaging definitely lures me in. I think maybe something to try out in the future. It is a shame the CC cream is so dark, I find that a lot with those type of products. x
