George Northwood Salon Experience | The Review

When Pinterest UK contacted me to ask if I would like to visit the George Northwood hair salon in London, I nearly fell off my chair. Ever since I saw that photo of Rosie Huntington Whiteley appear with her new shorter locks, with the genius George by her side, I knew some day I would need to get my hair done at his salon. So cheers Universe, for sorting that one out.
Introductions to George’s P.A, Lucy, were made, and then I was in, an appointment for both cut and colour. Excited? Damn sure I was.

Located just off Oxford Circus, around the corner from the likes of Reiss and All Saints, the salon is in a hot spot. Regular clients are A-Listers, Celebritys and Models. The salon itself, is beautiful. The interior is incredible, a glamorous feel with a laidback edge. It definitely is a reflection of George and his work. He was floating around the salon on the day I attended, dressed in casual attire, looking cool in trainers and his trademark glasses. Full of life, even at 9am, the salon was buzzing.

Phoebe was in charge of my colour and she took me downstairs to get started. She was beyond lovely and is clearly one to watch. I have never been happier with my colour. Whilst the colour was setting, Zoe Ball graced the seat next to me. Soon every chair around me was taken, full of happy women. It was clear to see the regular clients just love coming there.

Fabz, what a dude, he took care of my cut. I knew I was in safe hands as soon as I saw his blue glasses. He took weight out of the front of my hair and made it easier for me to manage, including taking a little bit of the length off to frame my face. I was so keen to grow my hair but me and Fabz agreed, the length and style it is now, it’s a keeper.

The star of the show had to be Rex, the truly handsome French Bulldog puppy. He is George’s dog and is absolutely adorable. I could not take my eyes off him and took about a thousand photos. He is definitely not camera shy. It took all of my will power not to steal him.

I had the best time and felt so looked after by everyone there. The atmosphere is so chilled and relaxed, by far one of the best salons I have ever set foot in. I cannot wait to go back, but sadly Phoebe told me I would not need another session for another 3-5 months. I will just have to make a special trip to pick up the awesome Redken hair products, including the Styling Rough Paste that Fabz used on me. It added so much texture to my hair without making it feel sticky or weighing it down.

Prices? Yup it is very expensive, but for the level of service you receive, it is to be expected. Cutting services range from £75-£175 and Balayage services range from £170-280.

George Northwood, I cannot thank you and your team enough. You definitely have yourselves a client for life. A huge thank you to Pinterest UK for making this happen!

What do you guys think to my new do?

  • The salon just looks stunning. The results of your hair are gorgeous, I love how vibrant the blonde is. This really is a luxury salon then, can never fault a price if the service matches up to it x

You look utterly stunning, gorgeous colour and cut (and you)! I was lucky enough to attend the Pinterest UK pre #LFW event a few weeks ago and model for George (dreamy day and I loved my boho 70’s look)- and I’m back to have my hair coloured and styled in April by him and cannot wait! He and the team there are just a joy to be around. Fab review x
