The Resolution Game

A beauty blogger shares her personal and blog related new years resolutions

It is January. The time you hear and see people set their New Year Resolutions, a list of personal goals they strive to achieve throughout the next set of twelve months before them. I think this is ruddy great, and I personally find it extremely fun and motivating. Previously I have not given too much thought to my resolutions and been quite generic with them, but 2015 for me, I have a lot planned, so I want to ensure I make the most of my goals and be quite thorough with them. I spent the 1st of January making plans for the following months ahead, I found it to be time well spent and truly productive. We all have 365 days, well 360 now, to start new adventures, form long lasting memories, and have the most fulfilled, satisfyingly sexy year. Start the year as you mean to go on…
I wanted to think of my resolution writing in a different way to before, claim a new attitude. Turn it into a game of sorts, a challenge to myself, something to ensure I stick to my goals. I am going to write down my resolutions in one big list, but then split them up into check points over each month of the year. I also want to make a diary of sorts, to look over what I have achieved at the end of every month. I got this idea from Superlatively Rude, a fantastic writer and one who’s blog you  must check out. Each month Laura writes her Monthly Reflections and in doing so this has helped transform her life. So proud of this woman and I hope this is the year I finally get to meet her.
So what are my goals? I thought I would share some of them with you, both personal and blog related:
Mindfulness and Minimalism: I intend to read much more into these subjects and apply them to my every day life. I always strive to be a positive person and entwining these two M’s into my being will surely help me be the best person I could possibly be.
Books: This leads me to reading. I hope some day I have my own little library. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting down and getting lost in the pages of a great book. I have a little stash on my bedside table and I shall slowly be working my way through these.
Fresh, new topics: From books, this takes me to book reviews. I want my blog to be more than beauty from now on. I want it to be a reflection of me, after all, it is named after me. Expect to see book reviews, juicing recipes and more reflective personal posts.
Wanderlust: To travel more has always been a goal of mine. I am currently planning a road trip of America. My friend David did Route 66 last year and it looked incredible. I am so excited to see more of the world this year! Carly Rowena also went to Fiji last year, a place I have always wanted to visit, so I am looking into travelling here as well.
Statistics are not important: But, I do like to see growth, so I have set myself mini targets including getting to 2500 Bloglovin’ followers by the end of January. I love the idea of my blog reaching new audiences, and this hopefully will lead to meeting new people and making new friends.
Going Green: I mentioned in a previous post that I intend to go completely organic. I am still doing this in terms of what my bank balance allows me to, but definitely expect to see this coming through on the blog. I will be much more ingredient focused, ensuring the products I am testing and buying are good for me, containing no nasties! Amber’s Beauty Talk has been a wonderful help advising me on how to go about this, go check out her blog.
Fitness: Okay so each year I drool over the Victoria’s Secret Angels and each year I vow to become as fit as they are. Up to now, this has been a big massive fat fail. I do yoga occasionally but I still could not run 10k without dying at the end. Imagine if we got taken over by zombies – I wouldn’t be able to run away from a mass murdering crowd for sh*t. I bought new gym clothes, a skipping rope and some weights. If you would like to see progess posts do let me know! I intend to start in the new few weeks once my torn muscle has healed more.
YouTube: My sister Amy has been a massive support in encouraging me to start YouTube again and with her guidance (nagging and criticism) I plan to upload once a week going forward. Subscribe here.
& Make-up Artistry: The reason I started this blog is because I am a make-up artist and I wanted to share my tips and tricks. Looking back I let beauty and product reviews take up more space on this blog than I ever intended. So expect lots more tutorials, beauty tips and a look inside my professional kit in the new year! I lost my passion, slightly, for make-up and even at one point said I wanted to give it up altogether. What was I thinking??? Watch this space, there will be big changes on this blog in relation to my make-up artistry.
I have a zillion and one other personal and blog related goals all in my little notebook but we would be here all day and these are the main ones I wish to focus on. I would love to hear what you guys have planned for 2015? I hope you have all had a great start to the year so far, and if you haven’t, don’t give up hope. Keep smiling guys.
