I collect eyeshadow palettes like magpies collect shiny things. I cannot get enough of them. The Northern Lights Eye Palettefrom Cargo Cosmetics is an absolute beaut. I was so excited when I opened it, just look at all of those magical colours
I had never heard of Cargo Cosmetics, and then not long after receiving this palette I actually walked past one of their counters in Debenhams. I seriously need to head back and try out the rest of the range, as this palette really impressed me.
As usual, let’s firstly discuss that packaging. The red snake skin effect is so unusual and so different to anything I already have in my stash, so this really stands out. With so many eye shadow palettes I really like finding ones with a unique design, that way I am certain not to forget about it in a hurry. Take a look inside and for a moment try to look passed the gorgeous array of shades, and instead check out each individual eye shadow name, ooh it makes me smile reading them over again. My favourites are Aurora, Glacier and Reindeer
Now, online this palette is described to include a selection of nude mattes. I am afraid I would have to disagree, none of these shades have a matte feel to me, and are quite shimmery, some with a metallic finish. Now, I absolutely love a bit of shimmer, so this did not disappoint me, but it could be quite misleading to those purchasing this online without swatching it beforehand. I would have liked to have some more matte transition shades, but the colours included are just so pretty I cannot fault this palette. As each of the shades, including the lighter colours, are all highly pigmented, the colour pay off is fantastic.  On application the texture feels silky soft and blends like a dream.

To create the look in the photographs above, I first began with a matte brown transition shade through the socket line, this was from a separate palette. I then used the Aurora shade, the beautiful shimmery pink all over the lid. I used a clean Crownbrush Chubby Shadow brush to blend this into the crease. I then added Reindeer, the deep reddy brown shade on the outer third of the lid and blended this under the eyes too. In the very corners of the eyes I used Iceland, a fab highlight shade, to open up my eyes.
Let me know if you would like me to film a video using this palette!
Available online now at Debenhams for just £24.50 (It was £35).
