Often I receive new, pretty products to play with, ones that excite me and grab my attention, but it is rare that a product engages me on more than just an aesthetic level. This is why Melvita has quickly risen to becoming one of my favourite brands. I shall explain.
Introducing the Melvita Creme Universelle*, complete with The Bee Who Spoke, an educational children’s book featuring the Melvita brand’s characters: Belle and the Bee.
Personally I much prefer using organic, ethically sourced skincare products, and it is something I am streamlining more and more in my every day life. I have so much respect for nature that I believe I should live by this in every part of my life. For nearly a year I have been a vegetarian, and slowly I am trying to become a vegan. Small steps. What does any of this have to do with Melvita?
Bees.
Bees are what inspired Melvita, it was founded on a bee farm. What a lot of us are blissfully unaware of, is the fact bees have such a major impact on our lives, and I think it is absolutely wonderful that Melvita, through a book and through their products, are trying to raise awareness of this.
Did you know that
One in Three Bites of Food is either directly or indirectly made
possible because of Bee Pollination? Fruit such as blueberries and
cherries are an astonishing 90% dependent on Honeybees for pollination.
We need to look after our bees, as they are slowly becoming endangered.

Back to the Creme Universelle…
Design a product that the entire family can use. Check. Make the tin packaging adorable (recyclable and reusable). Check. Ensure the texture for a hydrating cream is spot on. Check. Fragrance – beautiful. Check.
This delicate, super light, moisturing cream is suitable for every member of your family, therefore the story of the bees and their connection with nature and a human bean’s daily consumption, reaches all ages. It is very clever really when you think about it. They could have launched a face cream just for over 30s, but this would have limited their reach.  Launching a universal product alongside an educational book – aimed at children, but personally I loved it – what an inspiring idea.
Yes I loved this cream, and wow does it smell good and make my skin feel great. More importantly, this launch has a message and this is why Melvita engage me on a deeper level than a usual beauty brand does. Melvita have a story to tell and one I think everyone should read.
