#CurrysIntroJuicing | Philips Juicers, Urban Kings gym & Carly Rowena
now, this very second I am in SHEER BLEEDING AGONY, from the inside out. This
pain is a result of last night’s antics but I will get onto that later. To the
beginning of this tale…
evening with Currys called #CurrysIntrojuicing where I would listen to a
nutrition talk followed by taking part in a fitness class. Something a little different to the usual beauty event I attend, so I was really looking forward to it. The turn out of
bloggers was amazing, it was so good to see so many faces all in one room. I
was relieved to discover I was not the only blogger with no fitness background
in attendance – I feared I would be surrounded by demi gods and olympians!
Personal Trainer Carly Rowena for this event. I am totally hooked on her YouTube
channel, which you guys must go and check out, click here, she also has a
pretty fabulous blog too, read here. It was awesome to finally get to hang out
with this chick.
would want to attend a juicing event? Beauty to me is not just how I apply
make-up or my collection of ever growing skincare, it is also about taking good
care of ourselves, looking after our bodies and trying to be as healthy as
possible. Juicing is one of the ways we can keep our bodies full of nutrients,
vitamins and overall yummy goodness. I had a smoothie maker when I lived in Mallorca so this kind of
thaang is right up my street. I was keen to get juicy & jiggy with it.
from spinach and raspberries, carrots and strawberries, to broccoli and apples!
All of this got bunged into the juicer and out came a sweet smelling, pond
water resembling, pint of juice. We were pretty impressed at how good ours
tasted. I was litle bit disappointed to not have learnt much about the specific
model of the Philips juicer we were using – asides from learning not to put in
an unpeeled orange, this is a fire hazard as one poor girl discovered. Getting
to make a juice and learning all about it’s benefits was really great however.
- Add more veg than fruit so you don’t get too much fructose (Fruit sugar) in your bod-ay!
- You can add milk & proteins too! Try almond or soy milk, with superfood powder from your local health store!
- Your body NEEDS fats and protein! So make sure you eat these alongside juicing!
of the evening. Next up came the Body Conditioning class ran by Derry
Temple from Urban Kings gym (near
to London Kings Cross Station). Derry
Temple is a descendant from the
devil… I joke. He literally had us running in circles and jumping hoops. I would just like to point out here, that I bought my pretty new Nike Free 5.0 Training Shoes from the guys at Achilles Heel (found this site through Carly), I bought these especially for this event as I did not want to turn up in tatty trainers, in the end I didn’t even need them, as we had to take our shoes off!!!!! TYPICAL. So the reason why I am in SO much pain right now….
We did a circuit training session, an intense full
body workout, which involved everything from squats with kettle bells, to the
dreaded burpees, press ups, weights and lunges. I knew before taking part in
this class I was not even half as fit of half of the people in the room – you should
have seen some of the guns on show! I had NO IDEA just how much pain I would be
in today. Even though I feel broken, entirely and utterly broken, I had the
BEST time and cannot wait to do it all over again. I felt amazing straight
after the class, with all the endorphins whizzing around my body, even with my
jelly legs, and an added bonus – I slept like a baby. I had forgotten just how
good it felt to exercise as well as discovering muscles in places entirely
unbeknown to me.
