Something for the Boys...

I thought I would do something specifically for the Boys out there, I know that some of my guy friends read my blog, well, glance over it, I doubt any of them are genuinely interested in make-up, so I thought why not do something that will interest my male readers. (Girls, if you are reading this, and find your boyfriend, Dad, brothers steal your skincare, then take them to try Kiehl's, they won't ever pinch your face wash again!).

Let me introduce you to Kiehl's.

160 years ago, Kiehl's was founded in New York, (you can see where they first began on Pear Tree Corner, their Flagship store still stands there today). In the early days, it started out as a traditional pharmacy and apothecary, and produced all of the products right there in the store - how cute.

I love Kiehl's particularly because of its family driven background and dedication to the brand, the fact they use mainly natural ingredients, sourcing botanical ingredients from all parts of the world, and they have always kept the packaging neat and simple - its recyclable too! The brand is all about supplying high quality products, that work (and trust me guys, their products are AMAZING!). The stuff inside the shiny bottles is more important to them then over-the-top marketing and false advertising. This is why, myself, and thousands of others around the world keep going back to this brand.

Now guys, back to you, I am going to share with you some products I found lurking in my boyfriend's bathroom, I got him to try this, and even though he thinks I am a little bit crazy when it comes to skincare, he had to admit I was right, Kiehl's is bloody good stuff. Enjoy.

Now then, the majority of guys I know, just want to get clean, smell nice and get out the door - quickly and with no fuss at all! So this is perfect for you. A no fuss face wash, that invigorates the skin with the citrus and caffeine ingredients. Some facial washes can dry the skin out, but this doesn't so don;t worry about that. Does your skin look dull and tired? Too many nights out partying? This will wake your skin up and have you looking healthy again.

75ml £8.50 250ml £17.00

Tip: Kiehls do a Facial Fuel Energising Scrub that is great for minimizing ingrown hairs and other shaving irritations.

One of Kiehl's latest products for men.

Perfect for those of you who want something lightweight just to hydrate your skin, and if you are wanting to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles then this bad boy is for you. It contains Squalane, so it's very compatible with the natural oils in your skin, therefore not making you more oily. You need the tiniest amount as a little really does go a long way.

I would say this is great for normal-oily skin types, but if you have dry skin guys, you might need something a little more moisturising such as the Facial Fuel Moisturiser Treatment

75ml £27.00

A simple eye gel, that targets puffiness and dark circles. Use only the size of a grain of rice for each eye. Fab if you have had a few late nights and need to look more awake. I steal this when I cannot find my own eye cream!

15ml £22.50

Product Review: Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24HR

From Left to Right: Immortal Charcoal, Eternal Gold, Turquoise Forever

Cheeky swatch - amazing pigment

Hello Lovelies

Another Product Review for you to have a perusal over.

I saw these and just had to have them, as I loved the little pots and thought the colours looked great. The only other paint pots of a similar size I have in my kit at the moment are the M.A.C Paint pots so I thought I would try out the latest high street version: Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24HR cream eyeshadows.

Now, I did try these on, without a primer, and found that they did crease and the true colour did fade after a few hours - which was disappointing. However, on trying them with a decent eye primer (Nars Smudge Proof Eye base) they did not crease, and the bright pigments really stood out. I was really impressed with how easily this product went onto the eye area. On first application I applied with only my finger and the cream texture glided on perfectly. I then went onto buff the colour around the eye socket with a M.A.C 217 brush and again the product blended nicely.

The best thing about getting hold of these colour tattoos, is that, Boots have an offer on for 3 for 2. So I will definitely be buying the other 3 available shades. I hope they bring out  more colours soon.

For £4.99 you can't really not buy these.

See you soon,

Product Review: M.A.C Palette x 4

From the bottom row, starting on the left and going clockwise... Twinks, Satin Taupe, Texture and Cork.

Hey Guys,

A few posts ago I showed you my latest Beauty Haul and this M.A.C Cosmetics eyeshadow palette was one of the products I picked up.

As you can see from the photographs, I have used this a lot since purchasing it, and it is because I simply love it.

M.A.C eyeshadows have such a great pigment, and I find there is not a lot of product fall, which is good news for make-up artists. I hate eye shadows where no matter how much you tap off the brush, the eyeshadow still seems to fall where you don't want it.

They blend so easily, and last for hours.

As for the palette itself, it is a great compact and fits easily into any personal make-up bag or professional kit. The palette and eyeshadow pans are sold separately

The palette would be £6.50, I bought mine using my M.A.C Pro card so I got it slightly discounted.

The eyeshadows cost £10 each.

I think these are reasonably priced considering the quality of the products and I would definitely purchase bigger palettes (they are available in x 15 also) and I cannot wait to get more of the eyeshadows. I have lots of the individual eyeshadows, but I love the idea of the palette - it makes much more sense to have all your favourite shades in one place.

Short but sweet post today guys, I will be uploading a video later today, where you can see how I have used this palette on a shoot.

See you soon,

#CBB Rant...

Celebrity Big Brother. I wince when I say it out loud.

I have never, ever seen the attraction in watching Big Brother, nevermind Celebrity Big Brother.

Why would we want to watch strange human beings bicker over who has cleaned up last or watch them behave ridiculously in tasks? It really is not my thing. My sister watches it religiously, and gets really attached to certain "characters" in the house. It's a worry. I wonder, when did it all go wrong? What were the TV Folks thinking when they decided this would be classed as Entertainment? Oh dear, oh dear.

However.

Last night, I found myself sat in front of the television, Channel 5 ready and waiting. I had heard rumours of certain so-called celebrities entering the house, but I wanted to see it for my own eyes. I secretly hoped that the rumours were not true and that, for once, the title "celebrity" wasn't made a mockery of.

If you did not watch this show last night, don't worry you did not miss out, nevertheless the following "celebrities" entered the Big Brother House.... I will give you a little bit of information about each, please forgive my bluntness.

Here we go, in no particular order:

This chap, was part of Team GB, a Judo Olympian - well - he made the team, he didn't bring home any medals. In my opinion to be a true Olympian, you have to win at least Bronze - right? Could someone tell me how this makes you a celebrity? Are all sports players automatically given the title celebrity? He is no David Beckham thank you very much.

Cheryl Fergison

I like Cheryl, she seems genuine if a bit odd. I'm not a soap fan, but I believe this lady is from Eastenders. She used to play a character called Heather Trott apparently. So she has kinda got a little bit of that "Celeb" status. As much as anyone from Hollyoaks would have....

Coleen Nolan
We may have our first celebrity here guys, don't get too excited though, it is nearly all down hill from here. Coleen used to be in the band Nolan Sisters and is now a TV Presenter and author. She reminds me a little of my mum actually. She seems nice enough, and has a bit of spunk about her. Nothing bad to say here.

Working in the Glamour industry, as a make-up artist, (obviously) I had heard this name through the grapevine, so yes I know of this girl but REALLY WHO ARE YOU? YOU ARE NOT A CELEBRITY. You get your boobs out for a living and RINSE GUYS FOR THEIR MONEY - AND YOU APPEAR TO BE PROUD OF THIS????

I work with a lot of gorgeous, genuine glamour girls. They are not rinsers - they do not have the "rinsing" attitude. Yes they make money by getting their baps out, but they do not go on a television programme to announce some guy has bought them a new pair of Jimmy Choos.

Danica. PAH. You may be a pretty girl, but your looks will only get you so far in life.

Jasmine Lennard

Make me a Supermodel. Really? If you saw this girl enter the house, what were your thoughts on that horrendous necklace and gold jacket. PURLEASE. Next....

Julian Clary

Woah. An actual celebrity! Julian is a comedian, and hell he even pulls of wearing make-up. So two celebrities so far, this must be a record. Actual celebrities that is.

Julie Goodyear

Coronation Street actress, from ye-hears ago, played Bet Lynch. Possibly the worst person to wear leopard print, chews gum continuously with her mouth wide open. She probably was a celebrity in her day, but that was a long ass time ago. Zzzzzz.

MC Harvey

According to Wikipedia, he is a musician, an actor and a non -league footballer. If I walked past this bloke I would not have a clue who he was. In my opinion, a celebrity would make you look twice, and reach for your phone to text the words... "Guess who I have just seen...." Apparently, if you are linked to Cherly Cole and had an annoying hit single you become a celebrity.

Prince Lorenze Borghese

This guy has already been on another reality TV show, the US version of The Bachelor. So, in short, this ah-hum, Prince, went onto TV to find his wife. Now, he is on Big Brother because he failed that task, and this is a second cry for help. Poor fella. My bet is, one of the erm, "celebrity" models will try and get in his pants. I wonder if Rinser, I mean Danika gets her claws in first?

Rhian Sugden

Another one. Were they desperate this year? BREAKING NEWS. CELEBRITY actually means get your boobs out and Sex Text a celebrity. Holy crap what is this world coming to. Two classic moments that I must share, Rhian wanted to show the world she is intelligient, yet she does not know if "domesticated" is a real word (holds in a giggle) and also got booed. Well, that was worth watching.

'The Situation'

This guy is the second highest paid reality tv celebrity in the US, Kim Kardashian being first. There are no words. Oh wait there is one. Ponce.

Martin Kemp

Eastenders bad guy and member of Spandau Ballet. This guy is pretty cool, so I think if my calculations are correct. That makes 3 celebrities. 3 out of 13.... lovely.

Samantha Brick

Actually nearly forgot about this one. I will be quick - this journalist wrote a column named "There are Downsides to Being This Pretty". The ultimate display of vanity and lack of humility, well I am glad you got booed. Not a celebrity are ya.

That's it. I have got it off my chest.

What do you think to the "CELEBRITY" Big Brother line up? What do you think a celebrity should stand for?

See you soon,

MUA Cosmetics.... A Review.

Having worked for SpaceNK on and off for nearly 4 years, without noticing I became quite the beauty product Snob. I would NEVER shop in Boots, Superdrug or other high street stores that did not offer the likes of Laura Mercier, Nars, Chantecaille, ByTerry and so on. Being trained by international artists on luxury brands meant it was really, REALLY hard to believe anything other than luxury was good enough. I also admit, it is only this last year that I started to even shop at M.A.C Cosmetics.

I am now a total convert. So please forgive my old ways.

A few months ago I started following a girl called Karla Powell on Twitter. I had no idea then how much of an influence she would in future months have on me. Karla would regularly tweet about a make-up brand by the name of MUA Cosmetics, declaring that you could get eyeshadows for a pound. Not just eyeshadows.. but lipsticks, lipliners and much more. Yes you read correctly the first time... .£1!

I brushed it off, and never imagined I would ever buy into such a range.

During my recent trip back to the UK, I found myself picking up not one product from MUA Cosmetics, but two eyeshadow palettes, three bronzers, two blushers, two lip glosses, an eyeliner, an eyebrow pencil and a waterproof mascara - all for UNDER £20!

Let me tell you why.
Karla Powell, posts all these gorgeous pretty pictures via her Twitter, her Blog and Instagram, full of bright pigments, strong colour, and don't even get me started on her nail art. Can you really blame me for wanting a piece of it all?

Ok, so you have probably seen a lot of reviews on this palette flying about the blogging world, but what the heck, here is another. I love collecting eyeshadow palettes, and with this array of neutral shades I could hardly not pick one up to put in my kit.

I love the texture of these eyeshadows, and they are so, so easy to blend. With a good eye primer underneath the true, strong pigment shows and stays on for hours without creasing. For just £4 there is no excuse not to buy this palette.

From right to left - Shade One to Three

One pound, for a bronzer. I had to pinch myself. I pinched myself again after testing them and realising how good they are for contouring, I was so happy with them. I usually spend around £25 on a bronzer that usually smashes, so to find such a good quality bronzer for £1.00 - it is quite ridiculous really. I now really want to try the Mosaic bronzer - it just looks so pretty.

Pink & Coral blusher swatches

So the blushers, were kind of the icing on the cake for me. I am a MASSIVE Nars blusher fan. I adore the pigments, the colours and the scandalous names. So for me to like the MUA Cosmetics blushers - which I do - is kind of a big deal. As you can see from the photos above, I bought a Candy pink shade and the Coral. They are a soft, powder pigment on application, and for £1, I cannot really fault this blusher. The pink goes on quite sheer but is easily buildable  (for fellow Nars lovers, this is a very similar shade to Desire) and the Coral the splash of colour was instant. I personally could not choose between these shades as I really warm to them both. I cannot wait to grab the rest of the shades for my kit. . . and yes.. again only one pound. Bargain

Swatch test

You can see from the photograph, I have used this bad boy more so than the other products. THIS IS MY FAVOURITE PRODUCT so far tested from the MUA Cosmetics range. I love Trio Eyeshadow palettes - they are my lazy go to products, when I cannot be bothered doing anything creative and just want to throw on a simple look. Three shades, all the hardwork of finding eyeshadows that blend well together, kapoosh, gone. I trialed this first, not on myself in fact, I was working at The Powder Room in Liverpool and a young girl came in asking for a smokey eye. She then went onto show me a picture of Kim Kardashian (of all people) and explained she wanted it exactly like that. To my disappointment, it was just a matte black eye. I really do not like just sticking on a black eyeshadow, blending a bit and calling it a smokey eye. I LOVE TEXTURE. So I persuaded the girl to let me try out my new Innocence palette.

See the darker colour in the palette photograph above, well I used a fluffy eyeshadow blush to buff this all over the eye socket, I then used a flat eyeshadow brush to pack in some more colour just over the lid. I then took a matte black eyeshadow, and blended from the outer crease and just above the lash line. I took both colours along the lower lash line, added some liner and mascara.. and wah lah! The gorgeous coppery, plumy brown came through underneath the black and added so much more depth and fun to the finished eye look. I then went to do that same look on my sister later that evening.

In fact, now I have just described it, I may do a video tutorial on this look. What do you think guys?

£2.50... I know, I am still recovering from the shock.

Again, only a squid, you cannot complain. These tubes come in a variety of great shades, I bought these two gorgeous, candy pink colours for my kit. I go through so much pink lip gloss working with glamour models, you seriously would not believe it. I tweeted about an alternative to M.A.C Dazzle glass lipglosses and a lovely girl called Hannah told me to try these. So I did. As well as being the perfect texture for gloss - not too sticky or gloopy - they smell amazing too!

Now, being honest, I actually haven't tried this yet. I bought it as I hate the thought of running out of waterproof mascaras. They are a must for working in hot, humid conditions like here in Mallorca or for bridal make-up. So, being £1.00 I just picked it up and put it in my basket. I am sure it is wonderful, just like the rest of the range.

Last, but not least. I bought this Jet black eyeliner because I am always losing the black eyeliner pencils from my kit. I have no idea why, but I can never seem to find one. So again, being £1.00 I just picked one up and put it in my basket. I tried this out and was very surprised to see how easily it went on the waterline - some eyeliner pencils can be a pain and you have to go over and over, and over the waterline before you see the true pigment. This just glides on and stays on. As for the eyebrow pencil, I have not used it on myself, or at all for that matter, another one for the kit. I definitely recommend these intense colour pencils for every make-up artist. Such a bargain.

So there you have it, my review on MUA Cosmetics.

I am thoroughly impressed and will no doubt be buying more in the very near future.

Hope you enjoyed this little post guys, and remember if you want to see a tutorial with the Trio eyeshadow look I created then please let me know.

See you soon,

HD Brows

Hello Lovelies,

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, then you may have seen me go on about these HD Brows.

Basically, I am borderline albino aka: Fair hair and very, pale skin. So as a result, my eyebrow hairs are INVISIBLE ( I am not exaggerating peeps, you will see in the pictures to follow that I am being quite truthful).

I was forever having to pencil my eyebrows in, and I tell you, when you are lazy like me, putting your eyebrows on is a chore. I would never leave the house without them on, and if someone had said to me "What make-up item would you take on a desert island?" I would without a doubt have said an eyebrow pencil.

So when I saw that my friend Lauren Coombes had recently trained in HD Brows I had to go give it a whirl.

What are HD BROWS?

Ok peeps. It is a 7 Step Process involving tinting, waxing, threading, plucking, shaping.... a lot off shizzle. The result being a beautiful high definition eyebrow. If you like polished, perfect eyebrows then this is for you.

If you and your tweezers are at war, or you are too scared to touch even tweezers but want sexy eyebrows then I promise, HD Brows are worth every penny.

£25 per session, this is not a permanent treatment, (I wish it was!), therefore you are supposed to go back to get them redone every 4-6 weeks depending on the growth of your brows. This may seem like a luxury to some, but it really is life changing for someone like me. Waking up and having eyebrows, taking my make-up off and still having eyebrows..... I am in heaven.

^ BEFORE ^

 ^ AFTER ^

The difference is just unbelievable. I am a very happy customer.

You can contact Lauren via her website: theskinsanctuary.com

She is also a wonderful make-up artist too and has her own little treatment room, which I am uba jealous of, where she delivers magical skin treatments such as glycolic and pumpkin peels. I will be doing a separate post on the skincare Lauren introduced me to, Dermaquest, but if you cannot wait till then get yourselves over to her website.

See you soon,

Beauty Haul.

Hello Blog readers :)

I recently went back to the UK for 12 days, a short little trip, made up of a few make-up jobs as well as catching up with friends and family.

What were my highlights? Well, I watched the Olympic Opening ceremonies, from the comfort of my mum's home. I demolished a Nandos before watching Ted at the cinema... hiliarious film, however slightly boring during the middle, and by no means should have been a 15 - maybe I am getting old? I did a lot of shopping, had HD Brows done (which I will discuss in another blog post !! ) and painted a few faces.

I was lucky enough to work with the amazingly talented Aly Hazelwood whilst I was back. I headed down to London for a few days to assist Aly on a shoot for Company magazine. Yes, I took lots of photos, so when the time comes (when the October issue of the magazine comes out) I can share my day with you here on my blog. What I will say is, it was a lovely experience and I thoroughly enjoyed my day working with Aly and the team down at Company magazine. I would also like to thank Katie Mulloy for introducing me to Aly, for that I am very thankful.

Now then, I am now home sweet home in Mallorca, so time to catch up on my blogging.

This post is just a summary of all the beauty products I picked up, during several shopping trips, in the period I was home. I spent far too much money as usual. What the heck, I am an addict. Enjoy ;)

ABSOLUTE BARGAIN!

Frederic Fekkai Advanced Technician Colour Care Rapid Results Moisture Mask 207ml

The first product I bought (see above photo) was a great find in T K Maxx. I hardly ever go into this store, simply because I cannot be bothered routing through piles of clothes, but every now and then I will pop in to see which beauty products they have to offer - as they are normally a lot cheaper than the usual retail price.

On one of the shelves lay this little pink tub of gloop.  It was the last one. EEEEEP.

The Frederic Fekkai hair mask is just an amazing hair product. When I used to work at SpaceNK this would retail at £33 - yet in T K Maxx it was only £14.99!!! I snatched it up immediately. I do realise fifteen pounds is still pretty expensive for a hair mask, but I cannot stress how good this product is. It really does lock in your hair colour and makes the dullest hair look super glossy. Plus it has a UV shield which is always great for protecting your hair from the sun's rays. 207ml is a lot of gloop, and you only need the size of a walnut to mask your hair. I would use it twice a week, so this is going to last me a long time.

BEAUTY HAUL

In no particular order, I also bought:

Dermalogica Precleanse | Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Firm | Dermaquest Glyco Creamy Cleanser | MUA Cosmetics Bronzer (in all 3 shades) | MUA Cosmetics Lipglosses x 2 | MUA Cosmetics Eyeliner in Jet Black | MUA Cosmetics Eyebrow Pencil | MUA Cosmetics Blusher x 2 | MUA Cosmetics 12 Shade Palette Heaven & Earth | M.A.C Lipliners in Subculture & In Synch | M.A.C Pro Longwear Lipglass in Show me & Whoops | Talika Eyebrow Lipocils | MUA Cosmetics Trio Eyeshadow in Innocence | Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner 20ml Sachet | M.A.C Pro Colour x 4 Compact | M.A.C Eyeshadows in Cork, Texture, Satin Taupe & Twinks | MUA Cosmetics Waterproof Mascara | YSL Touche Eclat Radiance | Bio Oil | M.A.C Studio Finish concealers x 3 | Maybelline 24HR Color Tattoo Gel-cream Eyeshadows in Turquoise Forever, Eternal Gold & Immortal Charcoal | Tangle Teezer Compact Styler |

Wowzers. Beans on toast for the rest of the month for me.

Out of all the products listed, I was most excited about this Dermaquest Glyco Creamy Cleanser as it contains 15% Glycolic and Salicylic acid - I love these ingredients. It is to be used only as an evening cleanser due to the exfoliating properties of these acids, and I can tell you... it is fantastic. I will be doing a blog post specifically on this product, how I came across it and why I am so happy with it. So watch this space for more information on this bad boy.

I also could not wait to get my hands on this cheeky fella. I had a sample of the Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Firm eyecream and fell in love with it. It is a really thick, creamy texture which means you need the teeniest, tiniest amount and it leaves the eye area feeling super smooth. I am slightly paranoid about getting old, and I definitely do not ever want botox or any kind of surgery to change how I look, so I am using the good old, prevent it now, method by investing in a decent eye cream before it is too late! I also noticed that international make-up artist Aly Hazelwood uses this eye cream in her kit, and on asking her about this product, she said she would never use anything else - it really is that good. Again... I will go into more detail in the product review I plan on putting up later this week.

As you can see from the Beauty Haul photograph, I went a little MUA Cosmetics crazy. I can only blame one person for this. Karla Powell. This lady is an inspiration, being just one year older than me and achieving so much already in her make-up career, I literally idolise this girl. Karla being the Head of Makeup Artistry for MUA, and I being a twitter stalker, she completely sold me into this range. Yes, I the make-up snob, has been TOTALLY CONVERTED to this range, where products are from as little as £1!! The most expensive product being under £10! It is so so cheap, but the quality is insanely good. I tried this palette the day I bought it, and I kid you not, I cannot wait to buy the rest of the palettes. The pigment is beautiful, and the staying power for such an inexpensive eyeshadow is outstanding. I am so happy with my new found love for this brand. I will be doing a post on all of the products I bought from this range, where I will give a thorough review. So again, watch this space.

Had to include a photo of the Elle magazine I bought, I am sorry, but Rosie Huntington-Whiteley you are just too beautiful, and I REALLY WANT THAT PLAY SUIT DAMN YOU! Oh and a cheeky Jemma Kidd eyeliner, thankyou Elle.

Some books I am reading, such a bookworm, I have recently finished the Hunger Games trilogy and Bear Grylls Mud Sweat and Tears - all fabulous reads. I bought The Quantam Universe by Brian Cox & Jeff Forshaw because I am a bit of a geek and love a little bit of quantam physics... please forgive me. I then bought RIP Tide by Stella Rimington as my boyfriend has really got me into books about the military, like SAS and M15 shizzle - so I plan to read this and hopefully enjoy it. I may start doing book reviews on here actually, what do you think?

Oh. Okay, I AM A LITTLE BIT EMBARRASSED ABOUT THIS NEXT BIT. I succumbed to buying the bloody Fifty Shades of Grey series, well book one and two, I will pick up three on another occasion. I really, really did NOT want to become a sheep and buy this book because:

1) It sold out more copies than Harry Potter I do believe - WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ALL - HARRY POTTER CANNOT BE RIVALLED!
2) I heard the writing is terrible - poor grammar is just not acceptable!
3) I am not a sheep! I would just like to point that out once more.
4) My younger sister described it as an "erotic romance" novel - definitely not my thing.

Nevertheless, whilst getting my eyebrows done, my friend told me she read it all in one day, and I hold this girl in quite high regard so, I gave in. I bought 50 shades of Grey. Whether I give in to actually reading it is another statement altogether. So, I will keep you updated.

I hope you enjoyed this little post.

Take care guys and see you soon,
