Hiiiii,
So yesterday, I had a bit of a disaster at the hairdressers. Sob. sob.
My hair had faded out to borderline ginger from a really nice mahogany brown.
Needing my roots doing for a shoot next week, I hesitantly booked an appointment at a local hair salon. I was hesitant because I always get nervous trying somewhere new, especially having no recommendations to reassure me. I would normally treck up to Leeds to get my hair done, as Nicky and Kim at Options in Rothwell are just mega - I feel a tad guilty having tried somewhere new and it probably served me right to have had such a disaster.

I asked them to lighten it a little and as I was indecisive about growing it I also asked them not to take much off and to keep the style I already had (a bob).
As you can see from the piccys, they have lightened it, but it doesn't look "natural". The highlights look too stripy in my opinion. I had asked the hairdresser to advise me towards the hair colour, as I felt that my hair may not have been in a good enough condition to take bleach again, but she said it would be fine. Trusting her opinion I let her do her thaaang. You can tell in the pictures that my hair is now really "dry" looking. Oh and she chopped about two inches off. I am reallllly fussy so that probably doesn't make matters any better. NOT A HAPPY BUNNY.
I like to keep positive, so I had my moan (and a little cry!!! at the time i was mortified) and re washed it this morning to try and style it into something that didn't look like a dead animal on my head. For the record, I am considering buying a wig.
To cheer myself up, and to try and distract people from what is happening on my head at the moment, I decided to rock Nicki Minaj's Viva Glam lipstick from M.A.C Cosmetics today. Keeping to the Nicki theme, I am also wearing one of her gorgeous new nail polishes. Metalic 4 life. It is a gorgeous metallic black with flecks of silver. I just need to dig out my top coat out now so that it stays on. I hate chipped nails.
If you go and buy this nail polish, to get it identical to mine (see above), I would use 2 coats. I am in a bit of a rush to head out, otherwise would have even gone up to 4 coats. Just experiment :)
See you soon,

Just found out about your blog on Twitter (#bbloggers) and let me say I love your makeup and styling in here! Love the blush and the lipstick! I can't wait to get the Nicki Minaj lipstick for MAC, hopefully will be available here soon too!
ReplyDelete"I" is for Isabel xx
I hate when hairdressers go crazy with your hair as if its theirs. i really love the style of your hair cut though. (:
ReplyDeleteIt was the first time I read #bbloggers tonight, I was amazed by it. The blusher is a Laura Mercier one but I think it is discontinued now :( The Nicki Minaj one is my new fave, hope you can get your hands on it Isabel.
ReplyDeleteJess thankyouuu, I am getting used to my hair being shorter now. Scissor happy hairdressers are my worst nightmare xx
